Face-to-face* opportunities with the top firms is critical when recruiting for Tech. Given Stern’s unique location (in the middle of NYC) and leading reputation, we offer this opportunity with ease through both on-campus and off-campus recruiting.

On-Campus Recruiting

Stern offers many opportunities to engage with top tech firms and leading edge tech startups without leaving Washington Square through:

  • Corporate Presentations: Formal engagements where you learn the ins and outs of a firm, their recruitment process and timeline, and network directly with employees.

  • Coffee Chats: Formal and informal 1:1 conversations with firm champions (usually Stern alumni) where you network, ask questions about the company, and build relationships ahead of interviews.

  • Mock Interviews: Mock interviews take place with MBA2s (second year Stern students) and Stern Alumni from your firm of choice to better help you prep for the real thing.

  • Career Account: An online portal where you can search for job postings, internships, sign up for coffee chats, and more! It is a virtual communication platform between you, The Office of Career Development (OCD), and firms.

  • Stern Alumni: The best people EVER. We could stop at that, but we won’t.  There are Sternies everywhere, in key positions, and at top tech firms and leading edge startups. EQ doesn’t wear off when you graduate, and our Stern Alumni prove it by being there every step of the way to help you get your foot in the door!

  • OCD: An apt acronym for Office of Career Development— This team is dedicated to helping you land the job of your dreams! From bringing in the best firms to preparing you for interviews, OCD is organized, efficient, and very supportive.

Off-Campus Recruiting

Stern doesn’t stop at the entrance to Kaufman Management Center (KMC). A 10-15 minute walk / subway will get you to Google, Facebook, Verizon, Spotify, American Express, and all the startups in Silicon Alley. Stern will help you here too with:

  • Access to “Silicon Alley” - NYC’s tech scene featuring Big Tech, venture capital, private equity, and top startups.

  • In-semester internships at the best startups and tech firms

  • Treks to tech offices (see Treks section below for more info)

Tech Treks

Treks are STA-organized trips to the offices of tech companies. During these trips, Stern students meet with alumni, tour the company offices, and even see the sights!
