Tech Academics

Don’t worry if you don’t consider yourself a “techie” yet, Stern has you covered, with amazing professors, courses, and content to help you gain the confidence and vocabulary to land your dream job.

STEM Designation

On February 3, 2020 NYU Stern’s Full-time MBA program was officially designated as a STEM program. What does this mean? According to mba.com, “STEM MBA programs are designed to develop students’ management skills and technical expertise in harmony, producing a new class of future executives who are bilingual in business and tech.” Essentially, we have the programs to help you succeed in Tech careers and the stamp of approval that firms are looking for during recruitment.

Specializations

Stern allows students to customize their MBA through different “specializations” so you can actually “major” (in a sense) in Tech through the following specializations:

  • Product Management

  • Tech Product Mgmt (coming soon!)

  • Digital Marketing

  • FinTech

  • Business Analytics

  • Management of Technology + Operations

Professors

NYU attracts the best professors because we are conveniently located in the center of NYC and many of our professors are adjunct faculty, bringing their expertise from the outside world into the classroom.  Here are some of the industry experts and thought leaders currently serving as Stern faculty:

Experiential Learning

Like our professors, we like to test our skills in the real world. Stern makes this very easy to do with courses that provide you with the necessary knowledge and opportunities to work with real firms where you can apply your learnings and add experience to your resume:

  • Tech and the City

    • Student teams are embedded for a semester into different New York City-based startups from the investment portfolios leading tech-focused venture capital firms

    • Companies like Stash, Handy, Skillshare, and Minibar participate

  • Commercialization of Frontier Technologies

    • Students work together to develop a minimum viable product through conducting customer value proposition research, estimating market potential, crafting a technology commercialization strategy, etc.
