Manaal Faruqui is a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google leading the model quality team at Gemini, where he spends his time curating the best data for training LLMs and designing evaluation protocols.

He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Before that, he completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. His work on using semantic lexicons to improve word embeddings won a best paper award at NAACL 2015.
